In the field of materials research, if the target is small and the temperature difference is small, the thermal imager needs high spatial resolution and high thermal sensitivity. The new material research case of the gutta-percha root can provide such low temperature target material. The latest technical solutions are tested to help researchers conduct effective scientific analysis.

Test case:

The State Key Laboratory of Inorganic Organic and Composite Materials of a University of Chemical Technology and a university-affiliated stomatological hospital conduct research on the thermal conductivity of gutta-percha root canal materials; the main research is to fill the new material for the root cavity of the root, which needs to be melted at a low temperature and should not be higher than 47 °C. Otherwise, the patient may feel burning and cause physical injury. It is necessary to detect the surface temperature of the dedicated heating probe and the temperature of the tooth surface when the probe melts the material in the tooth.

Difficulties in testing:

1. The target is very small, the diameter of the probe is 2mm, the diameter of the root canal is less than 1mm, and the spatial resolution of the thermal imager needs to be below 1mRad.

2, the temperature difference is very small, the internal maximum temperature difference must be controlled within 10 °C, so the temperature difference on the outer surface will be reduced to 2-3 °C, the thermal sensitivity of the thermal imager needs to be within 50mK.

In addition to temperature analysis of the tooth surface, heating the heating probe of the new gutta-percha material is also the focus of research, but the diameter of the heating probe is only 2mm, and the temperature distribution needs to be analyzed from each pixel point, otherwise it will cause the inside of the mouth. The temperature is too high and the patient is burned, so it is also necessary to analyze the temperature of the heated probe.
