On January 1-3, 1991, Meili Snow Mountain dropped heavy snow, with 6 Chinese players and 11 Japanese players standing by at the 5,100-meter camp. On the evening of January 3, at 22:30, C3 Camp had the last call with Base Camp. Lost contact on the morning of January 4th, 17 members of the Chinese and Japanese were missing.

The Central Meteorological Observatory and the Yunnan Meteorological Observatory also confirmed this forecast to avoid recurrence of the 91-year tragedy. The team was forced to Withdrawal, dismissed on December 8th.
