PageMaker is a groupware that supports two International Color Consortium (ICC) compatible systems: the Kodak color management system on the Macintosh and Windows platforms and the Color Sync2.x standard on the Macintosh platform.
PageMaker Color Management System (CMS) Settings
Select the "File/Custom Format/Common" command and click the "CMS Settings" button to display the CMS Preferences screen (CMS Preferences).
1. "Color Management". This item is used to determine whether the color management system is on (select "ON") or off (select "OFF"). If Kodak CMS is turned on while using PageMaker, the system will perform corresponding spatial changes and transmissions in the input, display, color separation and printing, to minimize the color distortion.
2. "Monitor emulation". This item is used to open the soft proofing function in the color management so that the output of the color separation file can be displayed on the screen. There are "none" and "compound printers". "Color separation printer" and other options.
3. "New project use." This item is used to determine which color management system to choose. There are "None", "Kodak CMS (ICC)", "ColorCync" and other options.
4. "Kodak CMS (ICC) Settings".
(1) "Monitor" option. Select the device profile that matches the monitor type;
(2) "Composite Printer" option. Select the device profile that matches the output device (multi-station printer) used for the color mixing output;
(3) "Color separation printer" option. Select the device profile that matches the output device (color separation printer) used to create the color separations;
(4) "RGB Image Source" option. Select a device profile for creating RGB color images;
(5) "CMYK image source" option. Select the device profile that was used to create the CMYK color image.
The device profile described here will be automatically applied to all file objects it creates as the system's default file.
PageMaker Software Color Management System Control Functions
Due to the embedded structure, PageMaker itself only provides specific operation methods for color management. The main layer is for setting and managing device feature files for colors in two different types of processing objects: graphic text and color images. And color management of color images.
1. Color the graphics text to define its device characteristics
Coloring defining device features with colors involves two aspects: manually setting new colors and letting color management (CMS) automatically assign device features to new colors.
(1) Manually setting device features for new colors
1 Select Window/History Color Board.
2 Select "Add color" from the color palette.
3 In the "Color Options" dialog box, "Name" must be entered with a name.
a. Select “Category†(special color, printing color, talk color) “touch type†(RGB, HLS, CMYK) and color value by inner color to select the coloring color that you need;
b. Select a color from the predefined Color Bank.
4 In the Color Options dialog box, click CMS Sources.
5 Select the color device characteristics (source profile) according to the following guidelines:
a. If you intend to create an RGB color, the device profile selected by the color should be consistent with the device profile of the user monitor;
b. If you plan to create a CMYK color, the device profile selected for that color should be consistent with the user's "separation printer" device profile.
6 Click OK to return to the Collar Options dialog.
7 Click OK.
This completes the process of defining color device features for coloring colors.
(2) Let Color Management (CMS) automatically assign device features for newly created colors 1 Select “File/Custom Format/General†and click “CMS Settingsâ€.
2 In the CMS Customization Format dialog box, select the color management system from New Project Usage to set the device profile for the new color.
3 In Monitor Emulation, specify the monitor description file for the newly created RGB color, specify the “color separation printer†device description file for the newly created CMYK color, and select “None†to turn off the newly created color management.
4 Click OK to exit the CMS Custom Format dialog box. Then click OK.
