Development of UV Curing Leather Varnish (I)

[Abstract] Long-chain polyether modified epoxy acrylate (PEA) and flexible polyether urethane acrylate (PUA) were synthesized as flexible prepolymers for UV-cured leather coatings and UV-varnished. Formula optimization experiment. The developed UV-cured leather varnish completely meets the finishing requirements for real leather and artificial leather.

Leather polishing is the last process in leather processing, and it plays a protective and decorative function. At present, the coating on the skin is mainly an acrylic emulsion. It takes a long time to dry and does not have a strong adhesion. The coating of artificial leather is mainly heat-cured. The glue is first coated on the plastic film and the plastic film is applied. Hot pressed to leather and finally to plastic film, the production method is slow, and the process is tedious.

The use of UV-curing materials to make leather varnish, UV-cured for finishing, has not been reported so far. UV curing varnish has no volatile solvent, fast curing speed, high production efficiency, no pollution and energy saving, etc. It is a good environmental protection replacement product [1-4].

1 Principle analysis

1. 1 Pre-polymer and Reactive Diluent of UV Curing Material

The UV curing material consists of three parts: prepolymer, reactive diluent and initiator. From the point of view of leather requirements, after curing, the leather must be soft, have the necessary elasticity and have strong adhesion to the leather, which requires that the prepolymer reactive diluent must be soft; and have a certain olefinic bond density To ensure the curing speed.

Analyze and compare the structure and properties of various UV-curing prepolymers. The possible prepolymers with flexibility modification are: epoxy acrylates and urethane acrylates. This article intends to use epoxy acrylate and urethane acrylates as UV-curing prepolymers, and reactive diluents are screened in existing varieties [1-4].
