Cancer-related deaths continue to increase and now account for about one-third of Japanese deaths. Among them, the early detection of pancreatic cancer is difficult and the treatment effect is not good. Therefore, it is expected to develop disease markers that can achieve early diagnosis. In recent years, metabolomics, as a method for comprehensive analysis of metabolites, is being continuously introduced into the medical field and applied to many aspects such as disease diagnosis and drug efficacy evaluation. Now people have connected mass spectrometers with various chromatographs for metabolic analysis. Because clinical samples such as blood contain a large number of metabolites, when selecting a chromatograph for analysis, excellent resolution, quantification, reproducibility, and the availability of a database for metabolite identification are essential condition.
Recently, Yoshida ’s priority student at the Kobe University Graduate School of Medicine ’s Pathology and Pathology, Gastroenterology, and Mass Spectrometry Center used Shimadzu GCMS-QP2010 Plus to measure the metabolites extracted from the serum of pancreatic cancer patients and healthy people , And use the metabolic component database to perform metabolite identification. As a result, 60 metabolites were detected. Using SIMCA-P + (Umetrics) to provide this result in multivariate analysis, the results successfully grouped pancreatic cancer patients and healthy individuals.
This study shows the possibility of a new diagnostic method for pancreatic cancer based on GC / MS blood metabolite fingerprint analysis. As long as the method can obtain a disease-specific metabolic fingerprint, it may be applied to the diagnosis of diseases other than pancreatic cancer. Through the metabolic analysis based on mass spectrometry introduced in this article, the metabolic fingerprints unique to various diseases are clarified, and it is expected to usher in the era of early diagnosis of various diseases from a drop of blood.
Shimadzu GCMS-QP2010 Ultra
(Shimadzu GCMS-QP2010 Ultra, with a maximum scanning speed of 20,000u / sec, equipped with ASSP function, improves the sensitivity during high-speed scanning, and adapts to the requirements of full two-dimensional gas chromatography. The analysis cycle is shortened to 1/2 of the past The downtime during maintenance is about 3 hours, the chromatographic column is easy to replace, and the production efficiency is doubled. The power consumption during analysis is reduced by 36% and the CO2 emissions are reduced by 30%.)
