Epson and Toshiba Technology

Epson and Toshiba also supply inkjet printheads to many printer and printer manufacturers. (The print head technology of Toshiba Technology Company is authorized by Xaar, and Toshiba is also developing its own print head series). The printing width of this printer is 12.4 inches, which can reach a printing speed of 33 meters / minute at a resolution of 300dpi and 8 gray levels. At this drupa show, HP demonstrated a new Latex emulsion ink for Designjet digital presses. The Designjet printer uses a specially formulated water-based ink, which can not only be printed on non-absorbent printing materials such as vinyl, but also for outdoor large-scale billboard printing. The new Latex emulsion inks can serve a range of printed products. These new printed products may use the HP Race Angel brand name, and they will use this new type of environmentally friendly ink.

In addition, at this drupa show, Océ also released a new ink product, and Xerox also has technology to launch it. Océ's product is CrystalPoint ink. CrystalPoint ink actually uses Océ TonerPearls, its internal structure is closer to the tiny toner particles. These TonerPearls particles are transformed into colloids in the system. During the printing process, these colloidal toners are sprayed onto the surface of the printing material, which is crystallized and solidified by the additives in the ink, so it does not require heating and can be applied to many printing materials. The Océ ColorWave 600 digital press is the first press to use this technology.

Currently, Xerox also has a solid ink technology on the market. This technology is widely used in Xerox Phaser series printers. In the new technology preview of Drupa, Xerox talked about the colloidal ink that will be launched in the future. This ink is in the form of colloid, which is converted into a liquid state in a printing machine. It can be printed on any substrate and transformed into a solid form without heating. Xerox sees this new ink technology as a key technology for future inkjet product development.
