In helping customers to implement the alcohol-free process, we summarized some technical points for the trial of alcohol-free fountain solution, and learned from each other in the printing industry. We feel that the success of the alcohol-free process must be adjusted. There are two key adjustment points:
1: Surface tension: Conventional fountain solution, alcohol is added to reduce surface tension. The use of alcohol-free fountain solution must be carefully adjusted so that the surface tension is actually between 30º ~ 35º, which is the same as the performance characteristics when printed with isopropyl alcohol.
2: When operating without alcohol, the viscosity decreases and the fountain solution becomes thinner. On an unadjusted printing press, the dampening system cannot adequately supply dampening fluid to the printing plate, and the delicate water-ink balance is broken, causing undesirable consequences. At this time, by carefully adjusting the pressure between the rubber rollers, you can help the dampening system to let more fountain solution pass through, and as the alcohol is removed, the rubber of the dampening rubber roller will gradually soften until it returns to the original Design hardness, water level measurement will slowly reduce to the best state, the printer is in a normal state -----
